Melkbos sunset

Saturday was a glorious day ... Perfect for heading to the beach to chill, camera in pocket!
Cape Dwarf Chameleon

I was lucky enough to be able to observe a Cape Dwarf Chameleon laying egg sacs.  After positioning herself in a young, leafless, Plane tree she laid 4 egg sacs.  These were a translucent yellow with what looked like a big black nucleus.  This was in fact a tiny, curled up chameleon which emerged soon after the sac reached the ground.  We were unable to see any babies after they emerged as the sacs had fallen into dense Erigeron.  Four days later, on an incredibly windy day, we found some babies, precariously perched on young Agapanthus leaves.  The mother was busy shepherding them to a nearby Hebe where they were far more comfortable.
